Has anyone ever been ripped off by an Amazon seller?
I have. I ordered a book on Feb 2nd, my Visa was charged Feb 3rd and I've yet to receive the book. This seller had 1200+ positive feedback rating. If you know of a recourse that works, could you please advise?

thanks.

3. Yes, I have
I bought a couple of books and the seller never sent them.

I applied for a refund through Amazon, and had no trouble getting it. They won't reimburse your money directly, however, I think they only give credits.

6. I did the same on a CD I never got
It never came and the seller emailed me (after I paid for it and was deducted out of my checking account) to tell me that they didn't have the CD at that time :wtf:

I replied and told them to give me my freakin' money back...well, as nice as I possibly could at that time. I got it back.

4. Amazon kind of sucks anymore now that it is mostly a referral

deal. I much prefer Barnes & Noble, or the ABE for out of print.

I had a bad experience with one of their sellers. I didn't lose money, just a lot of time wasted waiting for a book they never sent.

5. thanks for responding
I'm thinking that talking to my bank is the best idea.

I tried doing the "where's my stuff" on Amazon and I didn't see any way to either get my book or get a refund. I always thought Amazon sellers were under the same peer pressure to be good that ebay sellers were, but I guess not. I'll bet they're good with shipping books they actually have but not with books they think they can get.

Happy Paddy's day.

7. I don't think ebay's all that great
I bought a movie and never got it. Paid for it through Paypal. I complained to ebay and got nada. Then I complained to Paypal. Had my money back in two weeks.

I will still shop ebay, but only if there's something I really really really want.

10. ebay rocks
I've purchased 2 cars on ebay, along with assorted other trinkets and never had a bad experience. I try and be very careful to research the item as much as possible, and ALWAYS communicate with the seller before the auction ends. If a seller doesn't answer my email, I won't bid.

11. That's a good bit of advice
It never occured to me before. I usually read the feedback on the sellers.

From now on I will communicate with sellers.

Thanks!

8. I had one bad experience with a seller. I filed a complaint with..
Amazon and received a refund immediately from the seller. I ordered a video of, "Rebel Without a Cause," and received, "Rebelde Sin Causa." *Snarf* When I contacted the seller about it and sent them photos of the video jacket they were very rude and said that it was my video and I was trying to get a five dollar refund for nothing. :eyes: They probably never noticed that it was a Spanish subtitle version and were too proud to admit they made a mistake.
