I had to take my NEW car in for repairs. Swell, eh? Guess what they loaned
me? One of them there gas guzzling, leather clad Durangos...with no gas. Classic.

I was waiting for my Neon or Focus type loaner that they usually give you when your car goes kaput, and out they came with this. Could it be because the car to be fixed is ONLY THREE FREAKING MONTHS OLD AND SHOULDN'T BE LEAKING TRANS FLUID LIKE A 1985 K CAR????

;)

1. Any lemon laws in your state?
Do some research . . .

2. There are lemon laws here, but they don't pertain to the first "incident".
:hi:

3. Don't feel bad -
My NEW car (and first EVER new car, at that!) has been in the shop since 2/21 - as it started dripping oil at just over 1 month old.

I didn't however, get stuck w/ a Durango, thank god! Especially with the gas prices at their current rate. I got an '05 Civic, WITH gas - although I also have to return it full. I am getting sick of the Civic though - it's kinda "ghetto".

4. They gave me a quarter tank, which lasted 10 minutes and I could
hear the slurping. I pulled into a gas station just as the price for reg hit $2.25. I'm only filling it in little bits because they are getting it back with a quarter tank. :hi:

5. Bummer
I just bought a new car, too. Well, new for me. It's a 2002 Chevy S-10. Get's excellent gas mileage. I've been pretty lucky buying cars. My last little pickup lasted 9 years and it was 7 years old when I bought it. I'm hoping to get at least 9 years out of my new ride.

I guess you can be thankful for warranties. In the mean time get out on the highway and put the hammer down and live like Bush wants you to ;) You're going to help us usher in the electric cars by doing your part now to consume as much gas as possible.

15. We leased this one, our first time leasing. We had a Caravan, but it
proved to be quite the lemon in four years' time. This one we get to give back in two. :)

13. I bet. Not for a lot full of rentals. I bet that's cut into their overhead
quite a bit. :)

8. Call them and tell them you will be asking daily for a different loaner.
Our dealership dealt with us quite fairly when they gave us the Kia SUV when our Accent was in. We complained - bitterly - and came back the next day and got a Kia Rio. We told them we had never driven a vehicle that large and would be a danger to ourselves, their property and others if they forced us to drive that behemoth.

They were very helpful that way.

11. That is a good idea. I think they thought I would be thrilled to get
leather seats, 4x4 and yadda yadda in return for our little cloth seated Pacifica. :hi:

9. Never buy a Chrysler product. There is a reason they...
...wrap them in sexy body styles and designs. Shiny package, but what's inside is not as good on durability. Nuff said.

Let the flames begin!

10. We love our Chrysler products!!! We had an '88 Ram that's still running.
Our '95 Ram was excellent as is my husband's '04. We're quite happy and I won't take money out of my kids' mouths. :hi:

22. I adore my Chrysler Sebring. Rides great, handles like a dream
and I can drive all the way from Ft Worth to Little Rock on one tank of gas.

14. Hey! I worked on those 1985 K Cars!
You watch yourself over there, missy grumpy.

:-)

They really were shitty cars, though, weren't they?

But, it wasn't my fault.

16. Nope. Not at all, not your fault at all.
;) Just like it's not my brother in law's fault that our new Pacifica has an engine that is somehow soaked with trans fluid. :)

were tricked out like that. :)

21. It makes sense to trick out a rental like that
It's not for the benefit of the renters.

Rentals these days are part of a "program." The car maker sells the car to the rental company, who rents it to people for a year then sells it back to the carmaker, who runs it through their reconditioning program then sells it as a "rental return." They get all the "new" out of the car, if the "rental company" is really a branch of the automaker they get all of the rental revenues from it, and then they get the money from selling the year-old used vehicle to someone. And if they get the buyer to finance the car through the builder's own credit company, they get the interest payments too!

This is why rentals have six-disc CD players, Hemis, all the really popular options--they know a car with those things on it will sell well.

24. You've been going to the cheap places
If you'd quit going to Mebbe Rental Car (mebbe we'll have a car for you, and mebbe it'll run...but mebbe not) you wouldn't get Neons without radios.
