38. Here's another Canadian grocery lesson....
When reprehensor moved down here, he thought it was hysterical that we Americans had taken a form of cheese and named it after ourselves. What egos, huh?

If you go to Canada and need to go to the grocery store, don't look for AMERICAN cheese. Up there it's PROCESSED cheese.

This has been a joke in our marriage for well on 5 years now.

41. Speaking of sliced almonds..
Is anyone else upset that Costco quit carrying them? I use toasted sliced almonds on everything. Even for snacks. I will never buy them at the grocery store because they're overpriced by about 1000%. $5.00 for a tiny bag? Yea right. Costco had a huge 2 pound bag for $8.00.

21. Mmmm ...
If you liked that, you'd love this Pampered Chef recipe for fruit salsa w/ cinnamon chips. It's a great Summer snack.

CINNAMON CHIPS:
4 (7-inch) flour tortillas
1 tbsp sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

SALSA:
2 med Granny Smith apples
1 cup strawberries -- sliced
1 kiwi fruit -- peeled and chopped
1 small orange
2 tbsp packed brown sugar
2 tbsp apple jelly

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. For cinnamon chips, lightly spray tortillas with water. Combine sugar and cinnamon in flour/sugar shaker; sprinkle over tortillas. Cut each tortilla into 8 wedges; place in single layer on round baking stone. Bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned and crisp. Remove to cooling rack; cool completely.

For salsa, peel, core, and slice apples. Cut apples into quarters; chop. Slice strawberries and chop kiwi. Place fruit in 1 quart bowl. Zest orange and juice. Add orange zest, orange juice, brown sugar and apple jelly to fruit mixture, mix gently. Serve with cinnamon chips

25. What he said.
A bunch of Brit soccer (er, football) players I met once ordered a few pizza pies of that, and I must say their cool quotient went down ever so slightly.

Yuck!

I was speaking for all Brits when I basically said that you don't mix your meats and your fruits.

Same goes for that honey ham shitnasty, and cranberries and turkey...

:wtf: is wrong with you people?

34. Do you feel funny about sweets in the morning too?
My ex-boyfriend, another Brit, thought pancakes in the morning was nasty because it was basically "eating candy when you first wake up".

Cranberries are disgusting in general.

37. YESS!!!!
I don't think much of pancakes as a rule, they are a completely useless food, but with bacon and eggs? Oh hell-fucking-no! All those Denny's special combos you see all over the place, 3 pancakes, choice of meat, and eggs to order make no sense to me at all. Gimmie a bacon or sausage sandwich over pancakes any day.

Same goes for French toast.

And those horrible nasty sugarbomb "Strudel" things one of my idiot roommate insists on throwing in the oven at 5 in the morning. The sugary stink of those things that early wafting upstairs makes me want to :puke:

35. I haven't seen one of those in nearly five years here
pizza orders at meetings tend to be split between pepperoni, another meat, and veggie, just like they would be in Omaha or Charlotte. And they're usually from Pizza Hut, too, though there are a few locally-run operations making East Coast-style pies.

And yes, at least one establishment, out by Pearl Harbor, does indeed offer Spam as a topping. No, I haven't tried it.

39. I just made it on Wednesday
It's my favorite. Only problem is I can't afford Canadian Bacon, so I buy big ass hams when they're on sale and freeze them. It's much better with real C-Bacon, but ham is a reasonable substitute.
