If anything ever happens and I end up in a persistent vegetative state like the poor woman in Florida, I want you to think of it as God calling me home to his kingdom and I want you to do nothing to keep me alive.

It would aggravate God if you interfere with his plans for me and I swear I will come back and haunt every single one of you. And remember, you won't be able to see me because I'll be invisible (I'll be a ghost, right?) but I'll be able to see you in your underwear.

So let me die in peace.

1. I'd go ahead and put that in writing in front of a Notary Public
and a lawyer.

Just to be sure. :P

2. Honey, go to your attorney or the Nolo Press website...
...and get yourself the legal paperwork. Poor Terri Schiavo has become a political/religious football because she was foolish enough not to have a Living Will and Durable Power of Attorney for medical decision-making drawn up.

This, along with a Simple Will, constitutes paperwork that EVERY American should have -- including those who would cling to life whatever the cost.

3. And in that terms...
Wouldn't it be cool if there were some sort of confidential national registry where anyone could go and simply register their wishes for little or no cost.

4. Thanks for the site recommendation
That is on the immediate TO DO list cuz if my brain goes to carrot on the EEG, I wanna have some kind soul just roll me outside under the sky and let me go when nature decides.

I have heard of problems even if there is a medical power of attorney though. Maybe I will have one tatooed on my bum. Hard to sign though.

5. If it looks like I am going to wind up like that
I am going to write 'DNR' on my forehead in indelible black ink and find the nearest bus to jump under.
