Anyone knowledgeable with vaccines? I need help.
My brother was in the AF in 2001. His vaccine cert. lists something called Mng 0.5cc. Is this a typo? I cannot find anything. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

2. yes, I'm guessing it's the meningitis vaccine
Highly recommended for all joining the armed forces or going away to college dorms. I know a young man who almost died of this illness when he was only 18. It spreads to young people in crowded conditions. Here is more about it:

When I was younger, I did not know why my friend got this illness or why he nearly died, but these days there is a lot more awareness and the vaccine is good prevention.

5. Hmm, that's strange. The reason i am looking...
is shortly after the time he received these vaccines, he began having grand mol seizures. He did not have them prior to joining. Now he has several a month and sometimes more than one/day.

6. At age 24 I started having grand mal siezures.
Had three in a month, now I get about 1 per year.

Been tested entirely, no cause can be found. It just happens sometimes.

Many people fear vaccines but the diseases they prevent are much, much more dangerous.

12. The listed rate for complications with the Anthrax vaccine is 30-80%
Edited on Sat Mar-19-05 11:44 AM by mordarlar
It is EXPERIMENTAL. Other potential side affects are blood clots, SERIOUS birth defects and cancer.

I am not damning ordinary vaccines. But in this case we are trying to rule out the possibility that he had received this vaccine. When he was released from the military they withheld quite a few records.

8. Prevnar was the shot LK reacted badly to
it doesn't have a very good record when it comes to reactivity.

Unfotunately if he had more than one shot at a time it's nearly impossible to nail the culprit. Seizures are a known reaction to several vaccines.

Also, the military sometimes give shots that are considered experimental and aren't approved for the general population, so he may have reacted to one of those.

10. The abbreviation for meningitis vaccine
according to the list is "MEN". The only medical abbreviation that I could find for MNG is Multi-Nodular Goitre which seems rather unlikely. Perhaps take a copy of it down to your local health unit and see what they have to say. (I say copy because I am very tinfoil about this sort of thing and wouldn't trust any gov't agency with the original)

Good luck to you and your brother.

7. meningitis vaccine
http://www.cdc.gov/nip/publications/VIS/vis-mening.pdf

All vaccines can have serious side effects, due to what they were grown in, etc. Just because a side effect is not listed doesnt' mean it doesn't exist. Google search for meningitis vaccine came up with 547,000 hits. Good luck.
