I'll have to p/u some on monday. I have a window screen covering it now, I'm waiting for it to warm up a little bit before I take it outside today. Supposed to get to 40 degrees today, heat wave!!
Mrs. IconCat solved this problem by covering the dirt up with 2 layers of really cheap marbles (better than foil, because the soil is still able to breathe). Now, our cats don't even bother to scratch.
Y'know how it is when a cat "weaves" itself in and out of your legs when you're trying to walk? I have a "weaver" who almost got me killed this morning when I was walking toward the back stairs. She's a real sweetie and I love her to pieces, but she's a definite leg-weaver.
My cats have never peed inappropriately, thank God - Simba is also very lovey-dovey, and I step on his tail constantly or shut his tail in a door because I don't know he's there. You'd think I'd learn to look.
