Yes, I have some Norwegian blood, but like most Minnesotans I'm a mix.

In fact, there's more people of German ancestry in MN than there are of Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or Finnish. Lots of Irish, too, as well as the Scandanavians.

I myself am Czech, Scottish, English, Slovak, German, Danish, Norwegian and Swedish and Slovak (in order, highest to lowest).

Minnesota ain't Lake Wobegon-- at least, not in the last 20 years or so. :)

ON EDIT: St Paul, MN has more Hmong than per capita than any other city in the US. MN also has a large Somali community, as well.

Don't get your knickers all in a twist. I'm mostly Norwegian myself. I know you all are a diverse lot.:-)

12. No worries-- I can relate
I know the feeling-- I was raised by my mom, and that side of the family is Scandinavian and German. I made the mistake of once saying that there wasn't much difference between Norwegians and Swedes to a great-aunt, and damn if I didn't get ten-minute lecture on that! :P

13. Are we supposed to hate the Swedes?
Edited on Sun Mar-20-05 09:45 PM by FuzzySlippers
I heard that Karl Rove hates Hans Blix because Rove is Norwegian and Blix is, of course, Swedish.

On edit: I notice that you're also part Swedish, so you must hate yourself. :P

17. I actually DID hold a grudge against Sweden for a few years. So typical
Norwegian! But I got over it last year.

(Their language is still not as good as Norwegian!)

9. I'm actually a FIB = fucking Illinois Bastard (bitch?)
Edited on Sun Mar-20-05 09:30 PM by madison2000
Spent my life till 2000 in Illinois. I moved here because I love Madison. I do not drink beer at all, and I don't care for bratwust.
I have a little scandinavian ancestry, but its just a coincidence!

More german ancestry in WI than Scandinavian, actually.

19. At least Wisconsinites and Minnesotans can agree on Iowa.
I love making fun of other states. Why? Oh, who knows. Maybe because my own state is way too fun to make fun of.
