1. You already said hi to me.
But I'll get the ball rolling.

I asked this in another thread but I'll ask you:

Why should I avoid the GD forums? Some posters seem to have a problem with it. What's going on up there that is making people want to steer clear of it?

4. Thanks for the advice.
I'll definitely do that! I wouldn't want to be eaten before they get a chance to know me.

8. Develop a thick skin and tread carefully
You also may want to master the "ignore" button and the "hide thread" feature. With that, you'll be all set.

Welcome :hi:

5. You should NOT avoid GD. This is a political forum and, to have
political discussions, you must venture into GD. People there are lovely, but passionate. They are smart and well armed. I love them and you will, too. :D

7. It all depends
I racked up over 2,000 posts before I even left GD & GD-P. Of course, that was back in the fall of 2003 before the election, and I was a big partisan of a candidate at the time.

Definately don't avoid the GDs. Some days are better than others, but just be prepared to be called to the carpet to explain yourself, repeatedly.

:hi:

11. Welcome!
GD tends to get very volatile and heated. Threads debating various issues can explode. Take asbestos underwear with you.

12. To jump in here, I earned my 1000 star count completely in
GD politics. Now, I didn't fight with people but just asked questions and make some pretty innocuous comments. But, if you want to fight and argue, go for it.

14. Welcome. WE can spell "moron" correctly, but
Freepers evidently can't.

Once upon a time, someone came across a photo of a freeper protesting something-or-other, and his sign read: "Get a brain! Morans!"

The screaming irony there is a hoot. DUers have since adopted the word "moran" to refer to those freeper types.

We know how to spell "moron." "Moran" has taken on a life of its own.
