I wonder why so many women are offering to marry scott peterson
and this phenomenon of women writing killers in prison with love letters and in some cases marrying and having children with them, what's up with that?

apparently scottie is getting dozens and dozens of offers of love and marriage, and the same thing happens to all famous killers, including richard ramirez the night stalker.

what would make a woman, some seemingly normal, engage in this bizarre behavior? any analysists out there?

They are lunatics. There is no rational explanation for that sort of pathology.

10. Exactly. Vicarious notoriety, with very little chance of ever having
to conduct a normal marriage, with the attendant ups and downs. You get to be Mrs. Scott Peterson, without having to actually make a life with Scott Peterson.

Weird, isn't it?

5. Because there are a lot of emotionally & mentally unstable women out there
as well as fellow psychopathic personality types like Scott Petersen...

And there are those that think "But he's soooo cute....how could someone with those "eyes" and "smile" be a murderer?"

And the weird part is that some of these women probably think that they can "save" him, even if he is guilty....

Ugh....

7. Ted Bundy got plenty of love letters, too. I think these are
emotionally unstable women, living in a fantasy world, who find the notoriety of the killers exciting. They would be better served to make up wild stories of their own and go on the Springer show. :eyes:

11. In Some of Those Pics
he looked just like Ben Affleck. And Ben would never commit a gruesome murder. A lot of people do think he's innocent.

And as Oprah Winfrey said: "Where are all the good men? They're in prison."

Oh, they BOTH did!

Their lawyer thought she was being so slick by dressing them up as cuddly teen idols and putting their parents on trial for sexual abuse--I was SO glad when that jury hung!

16. Right there with you.
Well, not on the predicting Peterson would get "fans," but today? This morning? One of my worst ever. I haven't felt this disillusioned since I found out about Bush's plans to take troops out of the DMZ. At this point, I would belive anything is possible when it comes to stupid, diseased, deranged, horrible human beings--no matter how negative.

22. Let me tell ya why, and it is a sad thing, too.
It is because some women have a very powerful urge to fix someone else. They think that by simply being around them, the murderer or whatever will be transformed. They will form him into their mentally idealized version of him, by transforming him through being for him his ideal woman.

The country song "Stand By Your Man" was written from this perspective. It is a perversion of a woman's natural instinct to empathize, and can become quite pathological.

These women need counseling, and that ain't no bullshit. They frequently set themselves up in ruinous relationships, and are often battered or killed as a result.

27. You are right
Some women love the hard-to-get, antisocial guys. For some, bad boys are sexy, powerful, and exciting. These women might view the opposite type, the "stable" person, as "boring."

Of course, courting the prison inmate is an extreme example of this "bad boy syndrome." Some ladies, such as myself, have dabbled with a few bad boys--but would never consider those in the murderer/death row genre.
