Domestic Arts Question: Leech
I've never used the stuff, but want to apply them as I've been feeling a bit under-the-weather since I came back from vacation last week and the traditional remedies just don't seem to be helping. Any suggestions

1. Well you want to get them when they are hungry
if they have already gorged themselves on, say, pig blood, they ainta gonna be interersted in suckin on your limbs.

5. Here's what my granny would do
ya give em a plump raw sausage to suck on fer a bit. That gives em the taste fer blood. Then ya starve em fer a couple days.

Once they get hungry again, apply the leech to your gangrenous limb and watch em go!!

The salad is great for afterwards to cleanse the palate.

3. drinking your own urine is another thing to try

I think leeches are only used medically to keep blood from clotting in poor circulation areas, such as ear repair.

If you're feeling under the weather you may be fighting something off. Go with it - your body is wiser than your mind; buy a good book or some groovy tunes, spoil yourself, get plenty of rest while your body works things out, go see a comedy show with some friends, learn something new, it'll all work out.

Stay away from the bloodsuckers.

6. Leeches are so 2002. Try maggots.
On another board I post on (one with a very international membership) I recently started a thread topic: "Maggot Infested Brits Want to Teach World a Lesson", with a link to a news article on medicinal maggotry.

7. How 18th century!
I can certainly understand you want to go the leeches route...all the people of the day swore by them...

Just use them sparingly, would be my advice.
