* Rant * About My Bank
They are changing their routing number.

Not only do I have to get new checks printed - which I just paid to do less than a month ago - but I also have to go through and set up all my automatic withdrawals again. To top it off, the serf in customer service couldn't tell me for sure whether or not the automatic withdrawals I currently have set up will continue to pay. And they did not allow enough time to provide the new information for automatic withdrawals before the change takes place. Which translates into something like "we can't tell you whether or not the automatic payments you currently have set up will continue to pay so if you don't want your bills to be paid late you had better go ahead and write a check and take the chance that you will pay the bill twice - either that or pay us money to place a stop payment on the account." Asshats.

I have free checking so I think I will stop all my automatic payments. And write checks for everything. Wonder how many 37 cent checks I can write to the Post Office for postage every month?

1. Sounds like a good time to change banks.

2. I couple of questions.
1. Why is the routing number being changed?

2. Have they given you a cut off date for the routing number?

I work in item processing at a bank. If the bank is changing the R/T number they should not charge you for new checks.

If the R/T is being changed, this should not effect any incoming auto payments. When banks change R/T numbers, the Federal Reserve will still recognize that old R/T for some time until it is "retired" which can not be done for serveral years.

We still honor checks from one of our old mergered banks from 1996.
