The BB Gun
Edited on Mon Mar-21-05 03:43 PM by MrsGrumpy
He did not know he desired a BB gun, until his daddy decided for him. His heart, in reality, longed for a copy of "The Incredibles". Definitely more palatable to the wallet, but where was the fun in that? So thought his daddy.

Daddy went one afternoon and bought a BB gun. The same Red Ryder he had as a boy, with few modifications. The only difference was the loading chamber on the stock instead of the muzzle. What fun it would be. $100, three stick on target practice packs, a target box, and three bottles of bb's-new and improved with the funnel built in!- he proudly carried the gun home and placed it in his son's hands.

Two heads bent over the instructions. One voice loud and full of knowledge, the other young and unsure as father taught son the basics of bb gun safety. "Don't point it at anyone, don't shoot it at anyone, don't run around with it loaded, and never use it unless Daddy's around..."

To the basement they went. One tread upon the stair full of anticipation, one tread full of doubt. And Mommy ready to shout, "I told you so!" if a window were to be broken or the washer to be dented.

The target was set-on an angle for safety, the bb's were loaded the gun cocked. One pull of the trigger, one ricochet off the wall, and one little voice saying, "It's okay, but I think I shot myself in the forehead a little bit. Here Daddy, you play with it."

And so, a Daddy's dreams were locked behind a storage room door and a little boy ran up the stairs to re watch a scratchy copy of "Finding Nemo"...if only for the preview of "The Incredibles", and dream of a day....

4. Good story, but
Why not spring the extra $10 for a pellet/bb trap target?

10. Thanks. I enjoyed that.
I have a BB gun and a copy of "The Incredibles". I'll side with the little boy. "The Incredibles" rocks.
