13. 10 freep responses on a site with thousands of members and hundreds...
...of disrupters?

Are you serious?

Sure I can imagine there might be one, I doubt it, but to think that 10 responses on a site this large could be statistically significant is stretching it.

5. My children have special dispensation
To say asshole whenever they see a HUMMER. (Ever notice that that's how it's spelled, all caps- it just has to scream at you)

Yesterday we saw a bright yellow one with a vanity plate that read "DOKSWIFE". My daughter saw that and said Oh my God "FLAMING ASSHOLE!"

Got to say I was proud of her!

They do drive up to the country about twice a month so an SUV can be handy.

That makes me feel a little better. All I could think was "big boat that will get 12 mpg" and that did not please me (internally anyway as I've learned to shut off my opinions with him or I will get yelled at). It has a trailer hitch and he wants to go camping in the future more, so hopefully that'll end up being utilized.

"I believe leftists are so incredibly selfish, that not even LIFE is enough to make them value another human..even one growing within them. Hence the terms, parasite, collection of cells, etc. Anything to dehumanize the child growing within them so they feel no pain when disposing of a life inside them. They have speant their miserable lives convincing themselves that animals, plants, even fish are more important to consider than human beings. If it weren't so sickening it would be heartbreaking. "

Now what does that have to do with what car people happen to drive?

61. mabye, just maybe, these people...
recycle every scrap in their compact, energy efficient, solar homes. maybe they grow their own organic food and compost their yard and vegetable scraps. maybe they have socially responsible jobs and volunteer at the hospice on weekends. maybe they take their labrador retriever to the children's hospitals to cheer up patients. maybe they go door to door in election years to drum up support for the democratic candidate, then volunteer at the polls (or to drive people TO the polls in their hummer!).

maybe, just maybe, the hummer is the ONLY thing they are irresponsible about.

maybe.....

64. I lost a leg
1n an auto accident in 1986 driving a Chevy. The car just crumpled up. Had Hummers existed at the time, and had I been driving one, I probably would have 2 legs today. I don't drive a Hummer today because I live in SF and the parking would be a nightmare. However, I did seriously consider it when I read that in a head-on the hummer will provide more protection than any other passenger vehicle. (I lost my left leg so I can still drive without any special apparatus.)

I DO drive a BMW, because it will not crumple up like tin in an accident as will most American and Japanese cars. (Yes, I know Volvo's are also pretty tough, I have driven them for many years, but BMW' 5 or 7s are still better.) Yes, I know Hummers (and SUV's generally) are not very safe driving vehicles because of tendencies to tip over at unsafe speeds, etc. But I lost my leg because of the other fucker, not me. I trust MY driving ability. I no longer can trust anyone else's. So I say bring on the Hummers if they can provide superior protection in an accident. And the more armor the better.

Sorry for going on at such length, but I feel strongly on the subject. I can feel phantom pains even as I type this.

65. I understand your reasons
I wonder though if a Volvo might not be better. They are supposed to be the safest cars, aren't they? I know SUV's are dangerous not only for the other person in the accident, but for the driver as well.
