I saw a snake on my front walkway tonight.
But it was too dark to tell what kind it was.Should I have picked it up for closer examination?

4. If I'm lucky, it would only be a Coral or Rattler
And not DeLay.

6. I kind of think that was expected of me
I had just returned from the liquor store, and it was between me and the front door. I walked around it, went in the house and found a flashlight. Just wanted an idea of what kind it was. My wife told me "don't pick it up"! Just what I, who am scared to death of snakes, had in mind.

7. just so you know...
my mom was from West Texas, and gave us quite an education in snakes. Please be aware that they travel in pairs. Where you see one, there inevitably will be another somewhere close. They are probably looking for water. You don't have any standing water or puddles anywhere do you? Got a hoe or spade ready? When we first moved in our house, I found a snake in my kitchen! getting ready to go after my beloved cocker spaniels, and I cut its head off with a hoe... Didn't think I'd ever have to put my mom's lessons to work, but hey, I was glad for them...
