For My 1,000th Post, A Contest!

This is my 1000th post, and to celebrate, I thought I'd hold a contest. I need an AVATAR, and I thought I'd let DU pick it for me (well, in part). Post your avatar suggestions to this thread and in three days (Saturday night around 11 p.m.), I will check the thread and pick the best three and then post a poll with those three favorites. DUers can then pick among those three for their favorite. After two days, I will check the poll (Monday night around 11 p.m.) and then announce the winners in both that post and a new post - praising the winners as clever and exceptional human beings!

(Poll tabulation will be made by Price, Waterhouse, Coopers, after having been left hermetically sealed in a mayonnaise jar on someone's front porch for a while. Diebold will not be involved.)

Either post a url as a link for us to go look at the image or post the image pretty close to the size of the avatar as it would appear in a post by me. Don't post a big fat image and use up skinner's bandwidth. (It would simplify things if you already have the avatar stored on a URL somewhere, but that is not necessary.)

The Grand Prize will be a box of Tiny Trapeze's "Chocolate Peppermint Sweetie Pie," made out of home-made marshmallow! I don't work for this company or know anyone who does, but I ordered some for Christmas after reading about them in a magazine and they are great. If you have never had home-made/hand-made marshmallow, you don't know what you are missing. If the winner turns out to be vegetarian, I can send you some vegetarian hand-made marshmallows and they are really good, too. (I will have to get your address by email for me to send your prize.)

Second Prize and Third Prize will be naming of you as the second and third prize winner, for all to see. If in three days there is only one avatar suggestion posted, that person is the automatic winner of the Grand Prize, and the poll will be cancelled, but that would be a big bummer for everyone to respond like that... If there are as little as two suggestions, the poll will be posted.

(You are automatically disqualified if it is determined that you are a card-carrying member of Free Republic, are a troll, or have ever started a Terri Schiavo thread - that last part is just a joke; you can enter the contest...)


NOTE: I reserve the right to ultimately change my avatar from the winning avatar to one of my own choice, if I suddenly decide I have a cooler idea for one. I'll use the poll winner at least for awhile, I promis! I and I alone am the judge of the merits of the avatar suggestions for the purposes of this contest, with the exception of the poll results. It's just something fun to do!

Don't forget the DU rules on avatars:

Step 1. Click on 'Browser...' button to choose your attachment file.
(maximum size = 3 KBytes, recommended dimensions 48x48 pixels)

Step 2. Define your image type:
JPEG image file GIF image file
Step 3. Click on 'Upload File!' button to finish. The uploaded file name will automatically be added to the attachment textbox.

It can be political, ironic, entertainment-related, wacky - looking for creativity mainly. Use your second choice for your own avatar, if you'd like.

if you like cats. Looks like it might need a bit of cropping, but not much.
