7. I know, Jeff
It's just the way I read it. I know you didn't mean it. Sorry that your city has suffered so much loss.

14. I dunno the '91 subway crash was freaking scary to me
5 or 6 killed? Sounds to me like a lot of people panicked today and jumped in the water needlessly.
Oh and the General Slocum will be cited frequesntly the next few days.

15. Yeah, the General Slocum was a Disaster... this is a disaster
especially for a city the size of NY.

The LIRR shooting spree was pretty bad too. Going way back, remember the train that fell into Newark Bay, that was in the 60's..and LIRR has had some tremendously messy accidents too.

5. BB gun or air rifle.
There is a difference.
I have an air rifle that I could kill myself with.
And now why in the world did I even weigh in on this?
nevermind

12. Boy, I wish I had a gun!
He should have read "Final Exit" first (preferably the 3rd edition, but the favored technique works without the helium, it just takes 30 minutes longer). He was lucky he got the gun aimed properly, I'm assuming th gunshot worked... For one thing, wrist slashing never works. For another, an improperly aimed gunshot would have left him in a state worse than death.

I would have done the same.

All I know is that there was a crash and a bunch of people either died or lost limbs. It was an accident, and I wouldn't be able to live knowing I'd (inadvertantly or otherwise) caused that much suffering.

But what do I know?

13. It is very possible his toxicology tests will come back
positive.
The ferry used to, in the old days, run on beer and steam. I can only hope that things are not quite that testosterone-laced anymore.
But, that is only a hope.
