Outlook Express Question
Recently Outlook has been removing the ability to view attatchments of word files.

This is shown at the top of the emails

"OE removed access to the following unsafe attatchments in your mail"

Is there a way to stop this through configuration? I have been receiving lots of word docs and pdf files from associates and cannot open them.

1. Mine's started to freeze during POP download from Yahoo!
Weird. Sorry I'm not much help. Maybe it's a bad vibe in the e-mail client universe.

2. Same thing happening here
I have no answer for you, though.

I should use something other than OE, I've been told.

3. Easy Fix...
Tools/Options/Security Tab

Then uncheck "Do not allow attachments". The attachments are still actually there, but OE won't let you see 'em with that option selected.

I was looking for the security access page...geesh...how stoopid.

Thanks for the info.

The only thing is, what caused that button to be checked? A windows security auto update maybe?

5. Security update
Yup, OE default default security settings have become much tighter as of late (it's about time!). It is much preferable that some effort be involved by the user who is not knowledgeable to do something stupid than the alternative which sacrifices security for "ease of use".

To see why this is the case, read http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/56/33226.html .

The tricky part lies in finding a middle ground that is still usable by the masses (perhaps Mac OS X is one such middle ground --I wouldn't know as I don't use that O/S).
