Natacha Atlas at Summerstage in Central Park this Sunday!
One of the world's most beautiful voices will be headlining a free show of world pop music in NYC this Sunday. I'm beside myself! If you're in New York on Sunday looking for something extraordinary to hear, go to this show. Natacha Atlas is a Belgian-born Brit who used to sing for Transglobal Underground, a world beat band produced by PiL's bassist Jah Wobble. She sings mostly in Arabic and has made some exquisitely sexy banghra-inflected pop music. I hope I'm not building her up too much. I know she's a little stage shy and her shows start a little rough, but they tend to start cooking by the third number.
