I just accepted an offer from a company located on Michigan Avenue (across the street from Millenium Park) in Chicago! I was beginning to think that they had forgotten about me, but apparently they didn't.

I'm supposed to call my new boss at home in a few minutes to work out the details, but I get to start on Monday.

For those of you just tuning in: I recently moved to Chicago and have been on the hunt for a means of providing an occasional crust of bread and a bowl of water.

Man... I've wanted to be able to take the train to work in downtown Chicago ever since I was in grad school in *coughcough1989cough*. This is gonna fucking ROCK!

That is great news. Which train will you be taking? Prolesunited can tell you all about the one where service comes to a screeching halt often in winter...used to be called the South Shore....forget what it is now.

I get off at Randolph St and pretty much walk across the street; About a 35 min ride for me to catch up on my reading.

It went from a terminal on Dempster Street up in Skokie (north suburbs) up to Milwaukee. Took it up there one time in grade school with my parents to pick up a new car. A really cool experience.

LOL, my mother took my sister and I out of school that afternoon. She told the nuns that my father was going out of town on a business trip and he wanted to see us before he left. My father never traveled for work.

I lived and worked in Chicago almost 18 years ago. Chicago is a wonderful place to live. I worked at Loyal University on Sheridan Rd. and Mutual Broadcasting at Michigan Ave and Wacker Dr.

This is silly but I do miss riding my bike along the lake and stopping for a hot dog. I usually never at hot dogs, but there was something about biking along the lake and eating the dogs. We also had an eating spot for hot dogs called LUV's, don't if they still exist.

There is a pizza place at Superior I think and Michigan Ave called not sure if I am spelling this correctly called Geno's, the best pizza ever! They also have a place on Rush street if that still exists. Unos was also good.

Are you living in Chicago or in the suburbs?

Not too far from downtown, however.

I love stopping for a dog & a beer at Navy Pier when I'm biking the lake trail! I'm probably going to rent a place at the bike garage eventually, so I can go for a ride after work.

I remember when you were talking about needing to find a job. I'm still looking myself; how 'bout you send some of those good vibes my way? :-)

If that doesn't work, I'll send a marimba instead.

I would return to Chicago. It was great liviing there. I do miss Lake Michigan!

However, I lived near Chicago for many years during/after grad school. I'm so glad to be back in the area that I could shit a gold bar.

damn....I finally exhaled after being in limbo. That was a good feeling.
