Dear God, please let the Cubs win tonight, for the sake of that Cubs fan
Lord,

I only hope that you will find it in your wisdom to have mercy on the life of this man. How was he to know that Alou was coming for the ball? He was just another fan trying to catch a ball.

I know you'll find it in your heart to make sure the Cubs win tonight.

AMEN

1. PLUS, he didn't cost them the game.
Even after that happened, the Cubs were still leading, 3-0. I can only imagine the death threats this poor guy has gotten.

4. I am reminded of a foul fly to right field in '96 Series
it was late innings and Atlant was cruising, about to go up 3 games to 1 in the 4th game. The right field ump got in the way of the Braves' right fielder and he couldn't make the running catch of an easy fly. The next thing you know the Yanks came back and won that game to change the Series momentum.
That foul (non-catch thanks to the ump) was the turning point of that series.

6. Front page photo on Tribune show another fan doing the right thing.
A fan right behind "Mr. Baseball" was doing the exact right thing which any right thinking fan would do - he is pulling back - drawing his hands up to his face and totally shrinking back trying not to affect the ball in any possible way.
This goes to show that at least one Cub fan knew how to conduct himself.

9. CUB FANS THROW BACK ALL OPPOSING HOME RUNS!
Even in batting practice.

Even if they go out of the park.

My dad made my brother throw back a batting practice home run he caught off of Johnny Bench's bat on his 5th birthday. He was crying as he threw it until the fans in the bleachers gave him a standing ovation.

I have no sympathy for THAT IDIOT.

None.

7. He'll have to leave Chicago
Not that it was his fault (I mean, hello, the other team scored EIGHT FREAKING RUNS), but he'll have to join the witness protection program or something if the Cubs lose tonight.
