Nostalgia--overwhelmed
As a long time fan of science fiction, I've attended my share of SF conventions and enjoyed them thoroughly, but last September, even though the WorldCon was in Boston, I couldn't attend because of financial constraints. As I used to belong to a social group in the 70s-late 80s, this was the chance for a meetup of old members who had been part of the club through the roughly 25 years in the club's existence.

One of the members has constructed a website to contain memories from that group gathering at the convention, and it was a chance to see some of the people I used to hang around in my "youth."

Well, to be perfectly honest, I'm overwhelmed. It struck me upon seeing some of the pictures that not only had these people gotten older, they had gotten OLD. I guess it shouldn't be too much of a shock to me seeing that some of them are in their late forties now (like me), most in their 50s, and a few in their 60s. In comparison to some of them, I think I look pretty young, even though I don't feel young.

Wow--what a shock to see pictures of these people. I'm truly glad that you guys here keep me looking younger than all these old people in my former life. ;) Yikes, I know we grow old every day, but I guess I just didn't expect such changes.

1. make the most of everyday
Making new memories is what keeps some old folks young.

I've met so many people 15 years younger than me who look older than I do.

I think smiling is keeping me young.
