discussion. I used to enjoy WEEI, and now I can't even listen to it. :puke:

3. Two stations, in fact.
The Zone and ESPN.

I used to be a faithful listener, since I like sports, and these guys are not political, but since we got Air America, I listen to that most of the time. (When I'm not listening to cds or my iPod)

5. AAR comes in loud and clear here - all day every day!
It's a beautiful thing.

Our "ESPN radio" carries the Dan Patrick SHow and the evening ESPN stuff, as well as games, but there's lots of local shows too. The Zone carries Fox SPorts Radio along with the local guys and Jim Rome.

8. I Used to Get 670 on my AM radio!
It would "Skiff on IN" to N.J.-Philly:yourock:

Great line-up of hosts!

Philly's WIP is a bunch Stern-wannabes in the morning and vacuous Bullshit the rest of the day.

They got a 3rd banana comedian for Christ's sake (sorry,Terri!) who does the overnite!:puke:

10. ESPN Radio here
980 - DC
1300 - Baltimore

Pretty much babble and pontification about sports issues. Not really political, though I have heard Dan Patrick get a few digs in at Bush.

And the Big Scumbag on the Morning Show readily admitted he hid from Vietnam in Grad School.

When he threatened to "run over those filthy protestors" I turned off the station until August.

14. It's pretty big here in oklahoma
and while one of the stations have several hosts who inject their right-wing politics, they also have a producer (a friend of mine) who is quite liberal and gets the chance to offer plenty of cross talk. (The most conservative of the hosts often invites his opinion as a counterpoint.) We have another station that plays it pretty straight and sticks to sports.

18. Pro sports drivel is the perfect filler for AM radio.
It doesn't have to be openly right-wing, because it accomplishes the right-wing agenda: It keeps an important demographic busy with limitless trivia, cloaked in a mantle of breathless importance. It's all about vicarious living through celebrities, rather than finding ways to be human and civilized.

19. What horrible condescending nonsense
FDR personally requested that baseball continue during WWII while all the other sports shut down. You're entitled to your own opinion, but to accuse all sports fans of essentially being right wing puppets is incredibly stupid.

24. Nothing wrong with sports; watch the game! Listen to the play-by-play.
But what I've heard on these stations is all about the contracts, the steroids, the misdemeanors, and whether someone is the right draft pick or not. It's celebrity nonsense. Granted, there have always been fans and heroes, but this blather serves simply to keep people's noses to the ground while the masters kick their asses.

I find some of the talk to be amusing, myself, but I can see where you're coming from. Still not sure that it's so right-wing, though.

other than Imus. The sports hosts make a point of avoiding politics, which is exactly the way it should be for Sports talk.

27. Well, to tell the truth I was a big Dallas Cowboy fan back in the day...
of Roger Staubach's two-minute drill and the Martin-Jones-White defensive line. But I grew out of it.

21. We have a station that broadcasts
ESPN radio in addition to local sports talk. The radio station at Univ. of Memphis has a sports talk segment in the morning which is not bad.

Our AAR station went on the air in January with the full AAR lineup.

31. I love sports but LOATHE most sports talk stations...
While driving up in Dallas over the weekend I heard some of the most disgusting sexist bullshit I've heard in a very long time spewing out of the sports talk radio guy. The ones in Austin aren't quite that bad...but they still inundate me with commercials for "gentlemen's clubs"...sorry, but gentlemen don't stuff dollar bills in a stripper's g-string. :eyes:

As a woman sports fan I just get really tired of being treated like I don't exist.
