Do I have an accent?

I've been wondering about this for a while. I always thought I had one of those mid-Atlantic things happening, but apparently I have a western Canadian/Manitoban accent. Can you tell me if this is so, eh?

1. Midwestern-ish a little.
It's hard to tell, but most native New Englanders who spend a little time with me can ultimately tell I'm not originally "one of them". :P

4. I've been told
I speak very rapidly and clipped. Which distresses most of my rural Albertan clients. They find it hard to understand me. I think the basic problem is I didn't "grow up" anywhere. (army brat) so I've found myself with no recognizable accent.

3. I never thought there was a Manitoba accent
Then after living in Michigan for five months, I went back to southwestern Manitoba for Christmas - "oat" and "aboat" really stood out. It's still more pleasant than the Michigan accent though... man, the Michigan accent is harsh.

the "tuna fish"? It's just tuna folks. You don't say "salmon fish". That really irks me for some strange reason.

Damn, "tuna fish" is redundant. People here say all kinds of redundant things like "Where are you at?"

But why do Canadians refer to hot dogs as wieners?

Could you please put a stop to that?

(I don't mean to generalize, just my experience with Windsorites across the river from the D)

Pierre (pronounced "peer"), South Dakota :P

We say Worsh-ing-ton (Washington) etc - a few other strange nuanced tells.

... the above to be contrasted with true Deep South folks like my husband (from New Orleans - pronounced "Nawlins") who unfailingly make all words ending with "an a" sound like "er." Further the concept of "GO CUP" in the French Quarter is the greatest invention since sliced bread. :party:

Tis true.

My accent didn't get commented on in Georgia, but my word choices did. Washroom vs Restroom etc.

20. I have a Canadian accent
and I've only been to Canada once (Victoria, a day trip on a boat with GAMBLING! :o).
In England, all the BC Canadians I ran into, I thought they were from Seattle, and they thought I was from BC. And the English people wanted to know which part of Canada I came from.
I think it came from watching mostly CBC stuff on the telly. Now give me the GD clicker box!

21. Yes.
I can almost always pick the Canadian out of a crowd. Sometimes the accent is very subtle, though, and there are regional variations, of course.

Likewise, most people can peg me by my accent also.
