3. A lot of people held out for Hirohito
to overrule his army. They invaded Manchuria, China, started a war with the US and Britain, attacked the USSR in 1939, invaded half of Asia, killed tens of millions in Asia particularly in China. Between 1931 and 1945, the only time he really did anything was in 1936, when military extremists attacked members of his cabinet. He had to order the army Generals to punish the guilty. One officer took a plane and bombed the Prime Minister's house! It took two atomic bombs before he grew a pair and ended the war.
