Why The Kinks Kick the Ass of Every Other British Invasion Band
Edited on Fri Mar-25-05 02:35 PM by Dr Fate
Because they obviously LOVE making music- they made, what? THREE THOUSAND Albums or something?

Their tunes are not played out what-so-ever- since they were never too commercial, the songs are really holding up...

GOD SAVE THE KINKS!!!!

3. Love em.
I really love the "New" Animals or "Eric Burden and The Animals"- you know, the "Sky Piolot/ When I was Young" era...

The Kinks still kick their ass though-they are less dated.

6. I agree- but you still have to love "The Twain Shall Meet"
What a kick-ass Animals record- even if it is pure 100% 1967 day-glow- it's great!!

I like that and the mono issue of "Greatest Hits Volume I" the best.

13. Love the Animals
I got a chance to meet Eric and Alan Price on their reunion tour in the 80s.
Eric Burdon has been one of my favorites for many many years.

7. I wore out the single of "You Really Got Me"....I just loved the Kinks!
Ray Davies ...yeah!!!

I loved the original Animals, too. Wore the "Best of the Animals" album I have out, too. "Gonna Send You Back to Walker" loved that one.

Eric Burdon was so great. But I have to say...when it came to covering some of the real classic blues stuff--the early Rolling Stones still did the best job instrumentally.

10. The Stones did do the best blues covers...
... better than The Animals, Snmall Faces or the Yardbirds -The Stones actually sounded "American"...

11. I love the Kinks.
Ray Davies is one of the best lyricists. Ever.

Perhaps even THE best.

He's written some of the most intelligent, funny, touching, acerbic, and rocking songs ever made.

12. Incredibly talented guys...."Celluloid Heros" is one of the most haunting
Edited on Fri Mar-25-05 03:05 PM by Rowdyboy
songs I've ever heard. "Come Dancin'" makes even me want to dance and the mental picture I get from "She Bought a hat like Princess Marina" is priceless.

I even liked their rock opera "Preservation I and II" and thats a stretch.

And "Lola".....well, "Lola" is just one of those songs that needs to be felt and it gets to me everytime for over 30 years. I feel just like a horny 17 year old again.

I have not picked up Preservation Pt. II yet- It's "on the list" as they say.
