Better way to go: During sex? During sleep?
Which do you think is the best way to die? It's a hard choice.

3. During sex might not be bad for the deceased, but it wouldn't
be best for your partner.

That's how my dad went just a few weeks ago. He got up as usual in the morning, went to the bathroom, came back to the bedroom and told my mother "I have a headache". He went back to bed, turned over on the side (facing the window showing the sun rising) - and that was it.

He was 81.

The thing is - he was not chronically ill. I spoke with him less than 24 hours before and he sounded fine. He spent the last day of his life with other church parishioners volunteering his time at a soup kitchen. Everyone there told me he looked fine.

Everybody at the funeral later told us that the way he went was the way they ALL wanted to go.

It was a terrible shock for all of us - the suddeness of it. But right now, given the horrible shit going down in Florida, we consider ourselves very lucky.

8. My husband died in his sleep
I think it was the best way for him to go. He had been sick for several years, he needed a new heart and didn't get it in time. I remember our last night together. We cooked dinner together and played dominoes. I went and read a story to our son and went to bed. He came in while I was reading, kissed me goodnight and went to sleep. Just as I was falling off to sleep I heard a funny noise, kinda like the air being let out of a balloon or the noise a child would make flying an airplane. I thought he was maybe talking in his sleep. I asked if he was ok and turned on the light and saw he was gone. I was so glad he did not suffer more, we had both grown to hate the hospital before his death. I'm sure he wanted it that way too.

9. My condolences
It sounds like he died well. He was surrounded by his family and familiar things.
