the Rings: The Two Towers and The Return of the King.

They're parts 2 and 3 of one full story, not complete new stories in themselves (LOTR is one big novel; Tolkien's original publisher only split it up in the first place for marketing and paper-shortage reasons)


Same is true of Kill Bill 2. Not a sequel, just the climax and resolution of the same story.


ARGUABLY, The Empire Strikes Back isn't one either if you see the Star Wars trilogies as complete stories. But each movie is more self-contained than the two examples above are. I'd be leaning towards that because it's one of the few I "sequels" I can think of that's so much better than the first.


I'm gonna say Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.


And I'm still waiting for Titanic II: Die Iceberg Die!

Which was followed by a few of the WORST sequels ever!

Terminator 2 was pretty damn good also.

Most sequels are trash; most of the movies of which sequels are made are pretty pathetic.

Godfather was an incredible film with a rich vein of material well-tapped a second time. :)
