I finally saw the Thrashing of the Christ
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't moved.

I'm not sure where Mel's head was at when he decided all that
gore was neccessary, but this movie & Braveheart convince me
this guy is one hell of a director - albeit a RW looney one.

1. The violence was just too much for me at some points
And I don't have a weak stomach either.

Mel Gibson is a talented director, but I wonder why he has such a fondness for over the top blood and guts (Braveheart, The Patriot, The Passion).

I think someone needs to tell him that there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

2. I'm still surprised he didn't substitute British troops for the Romans

3. I don't like the idea of seeing Christ's life reduced to an S & M flick
so I haven't seen it. Friends have told me that it is very well made film.

...but by the end you feel like you've been tortured half to death
yourself.

6. I have never had any desire to see the film
I know the story and how it ends and I'm a little put off by the reports of gory violence but the number one reason is I can't bear the actor who plays Christ (or is it "the Christ") cuz he's a terrible actor with dead eyes.

8. That's one of the reasons I don't like him
I really liked Frequency and it kinda choked me up at times but the scenes with him were annoying, like he made no emotional commitment or something. I dunno I just get the sense there's not much going on there.
