I have a question about Good Friday
My Protestant friend told me that Good Friday was "more of a Catholic thing" when I asked him if he was going to services today. Is Good Friday a more sacred holiday for Catholics than for Protestants?

1. I would agree with that.

I'm not sure, but I think it has something to do with the end of Lent, which is why it's "Good" Friday? I think the period of Lent is supposed to be 40 days like Jesus was in the wilderness 40 days...it actually has nothing to do with the crucifixion....for some reason I can't spell today...crucifiction...crucifishtiouaoeiruan....really...

2. It is another philosophy

It was one of the prime examples for the difference between protestants and Catholics to me: Protestants work (home improvement) on Good Friday, while we Catholics have dozens church activities.

Of course another theory goes that Good Friday has nothing to do with Christendom at all, but was a creation by Charlemagne.

Edited to reflect the topic - had mixed it up.

3. It is a Holy Day of Obligation.
There is no such thing in Protestant denominations as far as I know. Also, when I talk to Protestant counter-protestors, it seems that there is much more emphasis on the risen Jesus.
