Cubs fans: I keep hearing bout a curse on the Cubs...
What's that all about?

Here in Atlanta there is a seldom heard curse called the curse of one eyed Edna..

According to someone's imagination, when Fulton county was buying up property to build Fulton County Stadium, the lone hold out was an old one eyed woman named Edna. When she was finally forced off her property, she put a curse on the land - saying any team that played in the stadium would be losers...

...explains the Braves and Falcons for so many seasons. (well, obviously, Falcons still.)

1. Alledgedly, it's the curse of the goat
They wouldn't let a goat inside Wrigley Field and a curse was placed on the team. Personally, I think they've just run into a team that's hard to beat this year.

2. Your sense of Chicago sports history is dumbfounding.
Your team is tough as nails.

Too bad you don't deserve them.

5. Sorry, I'll admit I'm not competely up on Chicago's history
My knowledge of the Cubs is cursory at best.

I'll even cede you the fact that Florida sports fans aren't the best. A lot of it comes from the fact that a lot of the population has migrated from other parts of the country. There was also a lot of disappointment when Huizenga sold the team away.

4. The story of the curse
http://abclocal.go.com/wls/news/100303_ns_cubs_goatcurse.html

But the original curse dates back to Billy Sianis. As the story goes, Billy used to bring a billy goat to Wrigley to goad opposing teams. In the 1945 series with Detroit, Mr. P.K. Wrigley, the Cubs owner, wanted the billly goat out.

"He said not the goat. The goat smells," said Sam Sianis, restaurant owner.

Legend has it that Billy Sianis got mad and said, 'No, Billy Sianis, no billy goat in the Friendly Confines, then there will never be a world series played at Wrigley Field again.'
