9. Quite the contrary/ it depends
Maybe I should ask if you mean songs like many of the older Metallica songs or some of the race hate music. Reason being, I attribute living through my teens years with the help of the older Metallica songs like "Fade To Black" and "Sanitarium". They actually gave me some connection (we are talking pre internet for me) to other human beings who maybe had the same symptoms of depression and angst. Also, I give even more credit to a lot of great punk songs as well.

On the other hand, I was listening to some Slayer one night and happened to be reading some material about World War II (I'm only a history fan when it comes to that war for some odd reason). I noticed that Hitler was called the"angel of death" and in my mind the one Slayer song, the title escapes my memory right now, seemed to be pro nazi or something. I'm not sure if that band is really some kind of race hating propoganda band, like Rahowa was, but it turned me off and I couldn't listen any more once I realized what it represented to me. I felt bad when I realized I had to be way more aware of what I was buying, because I would never want to knowingly buy music that is racist or anti semitic or anything like that. That bummed me out and made me angry at the same time. I mean the race hate bands put out music to draw teens and young 20 somethings into a world of race hate by zeroing in on their feelings of alienation. That's sucks. It made me glad (even though this may sound bad to some people) that the very first image I remember seeing on television as a kid was of the civil rights heroes in Alabama and seeing those police sic german shepherds and turn fire hoses on children who just wanted to go to schoo. It really bothered me as a kid, and I mean bad, but by having that experience and being so bothered by it, it helped me make what I see as a right decision when it comes to what I see as possibly race hating propoganda. I steer clear and seem immune in some way. I'm glad of that.
