Ok so I'm sitting alone in my quiet house this morning when I

hear....gong cuckoo; gong cuckoo; etc...

at first I thought it was the chime on my wall clock, but it isn't a cuckoo clock...hmmm, I said. Then it stopped.

little while later, here it came again....mmmmmm..WTF I said???

It dawned on me...it was the alarm setting on my daughter's cell phone.

Had a good laugh over that one. Not bad for an electronic imitation of a cuckoo clock!!

Made me miss the one we had growing up, which started sounding like it had a sinus infection after it fell of the wall a couple of times.

1. My mama got one of those for Christmas once

a few years ago, Cuckoo clock that is- came from Germany. It was beautiful.... but, I hated that thing.

Scared the crap out of me when I was skipping school. Woke me up during naps. Drove me insane sometimes.

Like I said though... that thing was beautiful.

2. Anybody remember those little Hansel & Gretel barometers?

Also made in Germany, they looked sort of like a cuckoo clock but had Hansel & Gretel on a sort of little carousel with the wicked witch. When the weather was supposed to be fair, H&G would come out of the little door, if rain it would be the witch.

Your mentioning the cuckoo clock just reminded me of these. I haven't seen one in years.
