What sort of offbeat musical artists do you like?
I was posting in Rev Act's thread about music, and brought up Peter Gabriel and Sarah McLachlan, but that is just the tip of the odd iceburg for stuff I like.

I enjoy Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Sheila Chandra, Govinda, Kate Bush, Sarah Brightman, the music from Amelie and Thin Red Line.

Anyone else like the different stuff?

4. Polyphonic Spree,
whom I must plug continually until everyone adores them. Ever heard a 24 piece symphonic pop band? Check it out: www.polyphonicspree.com. Fronted by Tim DeLaughter, formerly lead singer of Tripping Daisy, but absolutely nothing like Tripping Daisy.

13. Here you go
Edited on Sat Mar-26-05 08:46 PM by Maestro
Eric Johnson, Dimmu Borgir, Helmet, Front 242, Dream Theater, DJ Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, DJ Armin Van Buren, Fear Factory, The Flatlanders, In Flames, Aterciopelados, Molotov, Gustavo Cerati...I could go on, basically except for a few satellite radio stations, these people are not heard. Helmet, Dream Theater and Fear Factory probably get the most airplay.

I like a lot of trip hoppy stuff, like Zero 7 and Esthero, does the music you mentioned fall sort of along that lines?

18. You bet.
Tiesto is probably the most well known of the group. Van Dyk and Van Buren are as well. Check out UNCLE, DJ Shadow and DJ Spooky as well. I especially like DJ Spooky because he is political and a dem!

22. I guess The Ditty Bops are kinda of weird, I love them.
Edited on Sun Mar-27-05 08:17 PM by Revolutionary_Acts04
Some would say David Bowie is weird too, lo-ove him.

I like anime music(yes I am a geek :P). Some world music, 12 Girls Band=awesome. I like Peter Gabriel and Sarah McLachlan too.

Is Lazyboy weird? I guess so, spoken words with a background of music for the most part, but really good stuff.

Modest Mouse has some pretty odd songs on their album Good News For People Who Love Bad News. :)

I just like music for the most part. :)

:hi:

Edit to add: The Flaming Lips, Psychedelic Furs, Violent Femmes are all great odd-beat bands too. :D

28. I need to check out some more music!
My problem with music is the same as with books. I get a whole bunch of cd's and books, and skip around according to my interest at the moment, and then find one I like for a while, then go back to skipping around again.
