is an angel who truly loved God. When God made humankind and asked the angels to bow down to His creation, Iblis refused, and told God that humankind would not be as true as Iblis was. God expelled Iblis from the angelic plane, and Iblis became a temptor to humankind. But Iblis, and all humankind, will someday wake up from their dream of seperation and realize that all is One.

(This is a Sufi story of what Christians call "Satan")

9. the original concept of Satan
appears to have come from the Zoroastrians. In their creation story, God created Goodness and Evil, who are in continuous battle. Before the Babylonian Captivity, I believe the Jews felt that both 'good' and 'bad' things came from God; the concept of Satan only came to the Bible after their brush with Zoroastrians.

12. Very interesting
My Hebrew teacher presented a paper on Satan in the Tanakh at a conference. She mentioned in class that Satan doesn't occur until later in the Bible; early on both good and ill fortune come from God.
