1. Scamorama!!!
Edited on Sat Mar-26-05 09:06 PM by Lefta Dissenter
but do forward it on to PayPal, along with the properties from the email... not that they'll be able to do anything about it...

edited to add that I keep getting similar notes from Southern Bank about my credit card account - unusual activity and all that b.s... I don't even HAVE a credit card with them (whoever they are), but when I went to the site out of curiosity, the first page I saw was asking me to fill in account numbers and SS number and my mother's maiden name. Can't people just try to make an honest living, instead of trying to steal from me???

5. Yea. I believe so.
I work for Gannett, which has had these problems over the last few years, of 'phishing'. Basically, a person creates a fraudulent facsimile of a real website.

What Gannett told us was this: Companies will NEVER ask you through email for such private information. Call Paypal's customer service, or send the person who sent this an email asking for what they have of your private information.

6. Rule: NEVER access your account by clicking on a link in an e-mail!
PLEASE! NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER DO THAT!

If you want to check your Paypal account, close that e-mail, then access your account independently of that e-mail by going directly to it through your browser. You will find (as I have many times in the past) that there is NOTHING wrong with your account.

That is a known scam to get personal information from you.

You need to forward that e-mail to Paypal's security/fraud e-mail address (I'm sure they must have one).

E-Bay, Paypal, and any other account will NEVER ask you to click on a link in an e-mail to provide personal information.

9. Phishing scam
Remember the good old days when criminals had to call and act like a company to get people's information?

11. I spend half my day at work assuring our customers that the bank I work
for did not send them an email asking for their passwords and credit card numbers(we don't even offer credit cards)...the phishing scammers are prolific.
