Is Rooibos tea as wonderful as they say it is?
I was all irritated because my supermarket had no echinacea tea, but lots of this red tea/rooibos stuff. So I go home and look on the internets, and apparently rooibos has vitamin C in it and something like 50% more anti-oxidants than green tea, has anti-inflammatory properties....

So anyone have any first hand experience with this tea? I'm a sucker for endorsements.

3. Now I wish I could go back for it...
I was wondering about the taste...I've never been a fan of green tea because of the taste. Not crazy about it.

2. I drink it - ALL THE TIME
I love the stuff. It tastes wonderful, with just a hint of sweetness (therefore really doesn't need sugar). Further, it has no caffeine, and is chock full of anti-oxidants.

At first I used to get Kalahari brand -- but I found an online source that sells it loose, in bulk. In fact, I'm about to go down to brew myself a cup of it now.

4. Just reading it's good for people with asthma and allergies...

both of which I have.
I've just seriously started reading up on herbs and things, and I can't believe I've not come across this.

So obviously you don't drink it in teabags--any reason for that? Just a preference thing?

5. It's just cheaper that way
Plus, I use a mug-style infuser, so there's no waste whatsoever. Except for the foil bag that the pound of tea comes in -- and I often find another use for those anyway.

is where I've been buying the stuff. The infuser I use is

Seriously, try some. I doubt you'll regret it.

cheers!

6. Thanks so much!
I actually thought you were using one of those metal spoony things (I'm so bad at names for tools). So thanks for the link to the tea and for letting me know about an infuser!

I'm going to give both a try.

7. You're most welcome
We have a teaspoon-style infuser, too. Plus a couple of others that are these ball-shaped things that are intended for a full pot.

I really like the mug-style infuser though, because it's easy to use and also lets me create blends if I want to.

One I have occasionally is "Lapsang Souchong" + "Rooibos". Another is to mix the rooibos with a little chamomile, especially late at night.

Rooibos tea has been one of my best tea discoveries in years.

8. Ah, mixing teas!
Wow, there's a whole world I didn't even know about--mixing teas sounds very cool. I ended up getting some Eluethero today, which was eh...perhaps I need to have another cup.
