One of my favorite movies is on
The American President is such a wonderful movie. Oh if we only had a President in office like Michael Douglas is in this flick.

Hmmmmmm.

3. Hi, Greylyn!
:hi: I got to the KOEB late yesterday, and didn't get to tell you that your doggie is gorgeous!

I agree: The American President is a wonderful movie. Enjoy!

6. Thank you....
That's my baby boy, Sheridan. Not really a baby anymore, he's 9 years old, but he's still acts like a puppy.

5. I can watch that film over and over and...
Edited on Sat Mar-26-05 11:47 PM by mcscajun
...every single time, wait for this:

"America isn't easy. America is advanced citizenship. You've gotta want it bad, cause it's gonna put up a fight. It's gonna say ‘You want free speech? Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, and who's standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours. You want to claim this land as the land of the free? Then the symbol of your country cannot just be a flag. The symbol also has to be one of it's citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest.’ Now show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms. Then you can stand up and sing about the land of the free.

(snip)

We have serious problems to solve, and we need serious people to solve them. And whatever your particular problem is, I promise you Bob Rumson* is not the least bit interested in solving it. He is interested in two things, and two things only: Making you afraid of it, and telling you who's to blame for it. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you win elections."

7. Isn't that a wonderful speech.

I also love when he's asking for opinions after the Libyans have bombed C.S.T.A.D and he has decided to bomb them back and AJ says:

"Sir, it's immediate, it's decisive, it's low-risk, and it's a proportional response."

And the President says:

"Someday someone's going to have to explain to me the virtue of a proportional response."

GW could sure use some lessons in that area as well.

8. One of my other favor quotes
"How do you do it? How do you have patience for people who claim they love America, but clearly can't stand Americans?"

Insert GWB here also because he clearly hates us.

10. The idea of Michael Douglas or Martin Sheen as my president
gives me a lot more comfort than our current reality.

That's why I watch The West Wing so loyally.

11. For those of you who do not know
Aaron Sorkin wrote the screenplay for this movie, as well as the first 4(or is it 3) seasons of the West Wing.

If you're feeling a little familiarity, that's probably it.

Martin Sheen and Joshua Malina (WW alumni) are also in it.

"Dave" is on next, if anyone's interested.

TNT's on presidential kick tonight.
