I spent last week in Vegas & Phoenix
It was beautiful. Sun every day. Stayed at a hotel with a Canadian youth baseball team also there. These kids were chalk white at the pools. I love the SW. But, Vegas is becoming unfriendly to kids and trying to return to Sin City, USA. I found that very interesting.

1. I'd love to go to Phoenix
But Ive never had any desire to go to Vegas.

When I was a kid my moms alcoholic (and married) boyfriend used to go there a lot. Before she went she would go buy a new highly lacquered bouffant wig, a new pair of falsies and he'd give her money to go buy a bunch of really tacky gold lamme outfits. I heard she once threw her underwear at either Tom Jones/Englebert Humpendink (same difference, really). So that is how I see the whole "Vegas" experience, and wouldnt go if I won a completely free trip there.

2. the only reason I'd go to Vegas again is Cirque du Soleil
and if they'd throw their pantaloons at me, heh, bonus.

Vegas has always Really been the capital of the US. Conspicuous consumption. Paint it in bright colours and lights for the adults that never forgave Santa dieing.

4. I stayed at the Red Roof Inn- Bell Road
We have relatives at 47th Avenue and Union Hills. It was close.

Vegas has decided that everyone else is doing the kids scene so they are going back to the adult sin city. Severals casinoes won't even allow kids.

5. yes, the NW part of the Valley.
I never took a liking the Phoenix metropolitan area. I found it very bland and I hated the summers.

6. Can't take PHX at all - it's hell!
We have stickers up here in Flagstaff, "Don't PHX FLG"

But glad you had fun! :-)

As for Vegas, I am glad they are getting back to their roots. Adults need someplace to hang out free of kids once in a while - especially when gambling and drinking are involved. Who wants to play slots or blackjack with kids running around?
