anyone ever see "Jason's Lyric?"
I unintentionally watched it tonight.

We had some bad weather moving through the area, and I put the tv on the "most" local channel, while I pursued a work-related problem. Normally, I'd have music playing while working.

I made no effort to follow the movie. This low-budget station usually shows really awful movies. But despite the frequent commercials, and the even-more-frequent weather bulletins, I found myself getting caught up in it.

It was really pretty good, I thought (from what I saw). Jada Pinkett was far prettier than I remember her ever being, and she gave a beautiful performance. And there was an actor named Allen Payne that was excellent, that I don't think I've ever heard of before.

The most shocking thing about it may have been that the movie came out in 1994. I remember hearing about it when it was new, and laughing about the corny title (Payne is Jason, and his girlfriend, Pinkett, is named "Lyric") -- I can't believe that was eleven years ago already.

I thought the ending seemed a tad dishonest, but it was a pretty good movie.

2. did you get to meet any of the stars or anything?
They filmed a pretty big movie in my hometown back in the seventies, and a classmate in elementary school was an extra, and I think a cousin of mine slept with one of the stars. But, alas, the movie was huge flop. ;)

3. No, I didn't find out it was filmed there until when I sat to watch
it at the theatre.

4. the one I was talking about was originally "Stuntman"

But they had to change the title for legal reasons, or something.

It became "Hooper." It had Burt Reynolds and Sally Field, and was a big to-do in town back then. But not only was it a bomb, it was a horrible movie.

I'll still watch it occasionally when it's on TBS or something, to re-live those really cool moments that I witnessed as a kid of those smoke towers falling, but I can't deny that it was one of the worst movies of all time.

5. I've seen it. I liked it and the song at the end of it was just beautiful.
I remember that as much as the movie itself.I need to find a copy of it.
