Did you go to church today?
Last week I was derided at work because I said I didn't plan on attending services today.

Oh, well............

20. Garden
That's what my Dad used to say. That he felt closer to god working in his garden than he ever did in a church.

It would be rather hypocritical of me to show up. One I am a Deist and don't trust organized religion and two, I never show up any other time so why now. Besides if I want to truely see God's work going out in nature is a far better place to do it.

5. I was all dressed up with nowhere to go.
My father-in-law is visiting and prior to his arrival wanted to attend church today. Unfortunately he forgot his suit. And he won't go to church without a suit. So I was all ready to take him and he decided not to go.

7. Nope...
I have treated this day as every other day...I don't feel any day is more sacred than another. Jesus was a great man...but I bet if you had asked him whether or not to make this day a holiday...he would have said no.

I am finishing up a kitchen flooring project. Then I am going to visit my Father in Law and watch MSU beat Kentucky. :-)

So i'm sitting here in my office babysitting the company on a day when nobody is going to visit or call.

I could be getting ready to watch the UNC basketball game, but noooooooo.......

I'm stuck here.

10. At work I was asked if I was going to church today.
I told the guy (a minister at a nondenominational church) that Easter is the one time I will surely NOT be at church because the pastor always hits all the talking points of the gospel for the people who only go to church on Easter and Christmas.

I didn't tell him that I went to an Ostara ritual last Saturday and was going to celebrate the esbat on Friday.

My husband just told me today he's an atheist so we shouldn't have Easter dinner for the kids today. How weird is that? He went to Catholic school and was an altar boy; what's he doing telling me he's an atheist when he's 52 years old? He never mentioned it before. I know that's off topic, but I'm a little stunned.

Talk about interfering with a personal decision.

We had our full moon two nights ago. Celebrating that constituted our services -- including a nod to Oestara, the pagan goddess after whom Easter is named.

cheers!

I don't know. It's better than the "non-denominational" evangelical churches.

25. really? They gave you crap because you weren't going?
God, I hate it when Dana Carvey's "Church Lady" becomes real. :puke:

Sorry about that. That was decidedly "un-Christian-like" behavior.

In answer to your question: Yes. Three different services. I am tired. :boring:

30. I miss sunrise services. Our church here doesn't do them.
And my church back home stopped doing them about ten years ago, so it's been a while since I've been to one.

31. I miss the real ones
This one was at 8 am, so it really wasn't a sunrise one. One church I went to had real sunrise ones, at 6:00 or 6:30 am, and did them outside.

I liked those. But even at 8 am, I like them - I like the liturgy of bringing the Christ candle inside from outside, and decorating the sanctuary and turning the lights on in the sanctuary and etc.

Very moving.

32. Yes, it's the 6:30 service I really miss. We used to do those outside too.
Our early service is at 8:30.

Your service sounds like it was nice.
