Any Scientologists on DU?
Just re-read Russell Miller's "Bare Faced Messiah" and I'd be interested to know what you feel about it.

2. Whether a belief can draw a person in or not has nothing to do with IQ
It is more about social conditioning and the time and place in a person's life. Something like Scientology is very well developed in drawing people of all walks in. And they often play up to people's intelligence initially.

4. People who think for themselves
(which is not measured in IQ tests) are more likely to see through the nonsense put out by cults.

You can have a high IQ and still not be a independent thinker.

5. Easy...
Liberal Christianity is a great philosophy; promoting kindness to those worse off than your self. True Christianity is liberal!

Scientology, however, encourages self centered thinking as part of it's scam to seperate money from those who can't see through the nonsense.
