I do I tell if a papaya is ripe?
Edited on Sun Mar-27-05 06:55 PM by Andy_Stephenson
My neighbor brought me one and I haven't a clue.

Last time she came over she brought me artichokes.

She brings me things I have no idea how to cook slice or use.

2. looks like you need a cooking dictionary
The Joy of Cooking has a pretty comprehensive section on how to cook most vegetables etc. and tell when they are ripe -- this site is also pretty good.

3. Save and dry the seeds in sunlight...
Chew about 6 of them up and they will help w/ heartburn or stomach aches when needed.

5. they also make a nice sauce ...
I've ground them up and mixed them with yogurt. Nice with chicken, fish, etc.

4. They turn from green to a mottled greenish orangish.
If they go all orange, it is over ripe. We got two papaya trees in our yard back in Hawai'i.

6. Hi, Andy,
I know from nothing about papayas! I'm just using your post to say HI! Hope you're feeling better and that your blood sugar is getting under better control...
