Silver Lining for Cubs fans
Let us all have a moment of silence for the Cubs' hope of a World Series victory.

Thank you.

And now, because if you can't laugh you end up wailing in a ditch somewhere,

TOP 10 UPSIDES TO THE CUBS LOSS LAST NIGHT

10. No further reason to watch Fox.

9. Will never have to sit through another fucking ad for *Joe Millionaire II* or *Skin.*

8. We now know Ron Santo's heart will be able to take the stress of his upcoming operation, since it was able to handle this week.

7. Boy, if they'd choked in game 7 of the World Series, wouldn't that have sucked even MORE?

6. Everyone who grew a scraggly goatee in honor of Matt Clement will now shave it off in dishonor of Josh Beckett.

5. Cubs take heat off Steve Bartman by proving they can lose without his help.

4. Intense despair and grief felt over Cubs loss provides welcome distraction from intense despair and grief felt over state of democracy, country, and world.

3. Time that would have been spent following World Series can now be lavished on family and loved ones.

2. Even if the Sox do make it to the World Series, the apocalypse will not take place at this time.

1. It'll be that much sweeter when they win it all next year.

It was a good ride, too bad about the crash at the end,

The Plaid Adder

4. We won't have to listen
to Fox's irritating Nascar race car noise everytime they cut to replay and then back from replay. That drove me crazy.

5. I know! I HATED that!
It was much better once we turned the sound off and turned up the WGN radio commentary. Still visually distracting a lot of the time, but at least you didn't have to have that @#$! vvrrrOOOOoomm thing.

C ya,

7. I also hate the little 'Windows error noise"
They play when they segue back from analysis to action. It's from the old Win95 'Robots' theme, I think, or one of the other non-standard sound themes. I know because I used it on my home PC for a while -- just set my teeth on edge every time I heard it. Probably has a lot to do with how many times I heard it when I was using Win95!

9. Having just gotten a Bose 3-2-1 system...
On Sunday, I appreciated that Nascar thingy! I find myself looking for things to "listen" to on tv!
(But I know what you mean: a week ago I was with you!)

6. Excellent!
#7 & #9 LOL!

For some reason that Old Navy commercial featuring the woman with the donkey laugh was really wearing on my nerves.....it seemed to play at every break.

13. She's way less annoying with the sound off.
In fact, without the braying, I didn't recognize her at first.

I know people know her from *The Nanny,* et al...but to me, she will always be "Bobbi Fleckman, Polymer Records!"

10. I just gave this list to one of my co-workers who's a Cubs fan
She loved it and plans to pass it along to her brother. BTW, we're all trying to comfort her; she told us she went to bed last night before the game was over and was actually crying. (She's the only Cubs fan in the office; I work in southcentral PA, so most of us are Phillies or Pirates fans.)

12. Glad I could help ease the pain...
Tell her she's welcome to send it around. It's up here now:

11. Billy Corgan
For me, the fact that Billy Corgan sang "take me out to the ball game" was my silver lining.

Pumpkins Forever
