Poll question: Do you have a tattoo you wish you could just make dissappear
We've had plenty of polls asking if you have a tattoo or if you'd get one. I've always toyed with getting a tattoo, but figured in a few years I'd be bored with it and there it was - stuck to my skin permamently.

So fess up: Is there a tattoo on your body that you wish you had never gotten. Share details if you like!!!

2. Getting Arrested
If you ever get arrested, the tattoo will make it very difficult to create ambiguity in the minds of the jury.

12. You're right
a backwards swastika tattoo on the forehead (ˆ la Charlie Manson) could
prejudice a jury. Ain't no ambiguity there.

3. Although Mr. Nownow,
Who is a programmer, has joked about having the Microsoft logo tattooed on some part of his body, he doesn't really mean it. I know damned well I'd have regretted it -- a friend and I used to joke about it back in high school, and when I think back to the things we were considering having tattooed on ourselves when we turned eighteen, I laugh to myself in relief that we didn't.

Some people, however, do have icons or symbols that are meaningful for the rest of their lives, I can't imagine it for myself.

5. I have one...
Edited on Thu Oct-16-03 11:37 AM by uberotto
It's not particularly attractive, and I wasn't happy with the work that was done when I first got it almost 15 years ago (before it was considered fashionable to get tattoos).

After I got it, I almost immediately regretted it, but after a while it just became another part of me. I hardly ever even think about it until someone asks about it.

I had though about having it removed a couple of years ago, but decided against it. Truth is, now I'm glad that I got it. It is a reminder of a different time in my life. So I guess the right way of saying it is that I'm not glad I got a tattoo, but I am glad that I have a reminder of some good times in the past.

My wife has a similar story about her tattoo. She got it after her divorce. It is a phoenix, and not a particularly good one, but when she looks at it she remembers how good it felt to be free of her first husband and it helps her keep things in perspective (so she says).

9. I have a Chinese dragon on my right shoulder blade
And I love it. Dragons are a symbol of protection. I'm a redhead, so the artist chose very complimentary colors for me--blues, greens, some yellow, and even a little red. I've had it for six years and don't regret it one bit. It's in a place not everyone can see, so I show it to those I choose. I personally think it rocks, and the SO is hip to it as well. Hooray.

10. It is hell when you get older, like me, and
the tattoo is visible and all distorted. I've spent thousands of dollars getting them removed but there are still splotches all over because they can't laser at all of the varied skin levels the ink penetrated. I HATE these damn things.

17. I Wish I Had One...
I really really want one. A big, complex one. --- But I'm too chicken.

I'm afraid of the pain, and whether or not you can trust the artist not to make a mistake... and whether or not it's going to be sterile and hygenic.

I know EXACTLY what I want though.
