Enormous Omelet Sandwich OR 15 pieces of Fried Chicken?
ABC had a report on this last night. Burger King is going to offer the "Enormous Omelet Sandwich"-two eggs, cheese, sausage patty, and three strips of bacon. 730 calories and 47 grams of fat. It could take up to 10 hours to digest.

ABC had in their report (summary of that report follows) but they compared the caloric intake, this sandwich (I find no fault in offering it-it is up to the individual to decide for themself) equals

3 pieces of Cheesecake
OR
4 slices of pepperoni pizza
OR
7 Donuts
OR
15 pieces of Fried Chicken!!!

MIAMI Mar 28, 2005 — Burger King began offering two new breakfast sandwiches Monday, including one that packs more calories and fat than a Whopper.

The Enormous Omelet Sandwich carries 730 calories and 47 grams of fat and comes with two eggs, sausage, three strips of bacon and two slices of melted American cheese on a bun. It's heftier than a Whopper hamburger, which weighs in at 700 calories and 42 grams of fat.

The other new breakfast item, the Western Omelet Croissanwich, is a lighter pick with 320 calories and 17 grams of fat. It has fire-grilled onions, ham and melted American cheese inside a folded egg on a croissant.

3. I tried one this morning.
It's a tiny little thing, not at all what you'd expect from the descriptions. I can't believe so much fat and so many calories were in that tiny thing.

Still, I've managed to eat all I plan on today (won't be having time for dinner with my work schedule) and it didn't taste too bad. Doubt I'd ever get it again, or recommend it.

No, if you want really ridiculously calorie-and-cholesterol-packed food, read the package of any Swanson's Hungry Man meal, especially the breakfast!

that people who sue fast food restaurants aren't acknowledging their own responsibility. But, damn it, when is the fast food industry going to be held to any standards? Eating sandwiches so laden with calories and fat on even a semi-regular basis is as dangerous as smoking, if not more so, and yet not only do they not have to put any warnings on the label, they can advertise as much as they want in any media they want with no restrictions.

I know that we are all responsible as individuals for what we put in our mouths. But I think fast food and other corporations should be responsible as well. They should not be able to cram marketing down our throats enticing us to buy such monstrosities with no limits, and no accountability. I'm not proposing a ban on fast food. I occasionally partake in it myself, although never the 700 calorie behemoths. I'm advocating some sensibility. I don't think any corporation should be able to make and manufacture a product as potentially deadly as cigarettes or extremely high calorie/fat foods like that breakfast sandwich without being held to some product liability. Cigarette companies have been forced to curtail their advertising and to admit that their product is deadly. Fast food is very quickly approaching that level of culpability.

13. Something's screwy about that fried chicken calculation.

Look at KFC's nutrition information: even the lightest piece, an Original Recipe drumstick, has 140 calories and 8 grams of fat. That would be 5 drumsticks and change.
