5. It's called a spectrum analyzer.

Think of it as a fancy radio. But its not a radio, but more like a programmable scanner. This particular model can tune into any thing from 9Khz, to 2.7Ghz (or 2,700,000Khz) Which includes the AM radio band, FM radio band, TV channels, to name a few things. As it scans, it displays the signal strength of each frequency on the display screen.

But its primarily used in trouble shooting and calibrating electronic equipment, such as receivers and transmitters. Which I do for a living.

Ham Radio, television, computers, measuring data; anytime you need to see the different waveforms of a signal and chart any minute varations.

All I have is a little flxy thing I fished out of a trashcan at work. All I can pick up is the FM band and a few of the beackens from the airport not far from here. I am looking for a FCC Freqency alocation chart on googel.

It looks like the only thing I can do with it at the moment, is brag about it seems. :shrug: Hmm, maybe I need to take appart the TV? :silly:

12. Isolate The Reciever Circuit On A Radio And Connect It There

Or you can measure the voltage fluctations of the AC going into your computer's power supply in and out. Or connect it to the speaker terminals on a radio or microphone and watch music and vocals. Or connect it to the monitor of your computer and watch the digital signals feeding it.

Of course, In The Olden Dayze, we didn't have no fancy spectrum analyzers. I had to do everything with an oscilloscope and Lissajou patterns.
