Oh Brother (not John), I'm an atheist, so you can imagine my opinion.

HE more or less says that we are all going to hell. That we live in sin and that he is perfect and we have to be or else its the fire pit for us all.

Made her feel like the whore of Bablelon(sp?). Just for being a cheerleader! This man needs to be stopped! MSSU was sued by This nurd and now he comes once a year to tell us we are going to hell!

We used to have a hell of a lot of fun when he'd come to campus. We'd get nice a drunk, take a 6-pack down onto the quad and just let loose.

They're so much fun - seriously. When I was goofing around grad school at Oklahoma State University, we had a bunch that would come yell at us for various things. I would get out there and compete with them for the crowds.

One of them said something about how if you look at a woman with lust, you've turned her into a whore, so I turned to the attractive woman next to me and apologized but stopped mid-sentence and stared at her chest. She and everyone else thought it was funny, but the evangelist called me a whore monger.

Another time, he was talking about homosexuality, and I asked him (loudly) if he knew that homosexuality was present in other animals, and since these animals don't have souls, it couldn't be considered a sin so I asked why God made them gay. The evangelist said something about how man was given dominion over the earth, and our sin covers the earth affecting animals, etc. So I asked (louder), "So there are these two gay monkeys going at it right now in the jungle, and it's our fault?" He ignored me after that even if I shouted, "Tell us about the gay monkeys, damn it!" After that, I was known as "Gay Monkey Man," and would it hear it shouted at me as a greeting while walking around campus.

And the absolute best (just because I dragged a friend into it) was when one of them was talking about the evils of dancing. I spied a good Latina friend walking my way (dancing was her life) and called her over and started talking to her really fast so she wouldn't hear the evangelist and then asked her to show me "that dance move we had been working on." So we start dancing amongst all these students listening to the evangelist, and he starts yelling at us. My friend thought it was funny how I got her, and she started arguing with the evangelist until she had to go to class.

These guys are cheap entertainment, and if you go out there and make fun of them, it drives them crazy. I heard that after I left some guy known as the Jolly Lama would put on robes and go out and compete against the evangelists claiming he was there to "redeem their souls and validate their parking."

that was at my campus back in the 80's (or another like-minded dimwit). Like many campuses, I imagine, he did not go over well with my left-leaning college.

Some highlights, I recall:

Some guy went up with chalk and started drawing a circle around him, complete with funny looking symbols around it. Brother John announced that what this student was drawing was a 'Devil's circle'. The crowd started roaring with laughter.

Another incident, which I thought was absolutely cruel, was when he singled out a girl sitting far off to the side, smoking a cigarette. Bro said that if she was willing to put a cigarette in her mouth, she'd put ANYTHING in her mouth!

Also went on a pop-culture tirade. Guy really had it in for Madonna, for some reason. Also the usual B.S. about Catholics, gays, lesbians (around a crowd of women's rugby players), interracial dating, slutty women, fraternities/sororities (when the crowd was a swath of Greek letters), Jews, Muslims and so on. He was Michael Savage when Mike was still Michael Wiener, the nutty hippie. Ploice ususally come along after a few hours and break everything up. Otherwise, I've see these fools go for 6-8 hours at a time! Non-stop.

There were a few of his ilk that came along (I'm sure I caught the bad ol' Brother John at least a couple times. One holy roller traveled the states with his wife and two kids living out of a really beat up van (station wagon???), with no other home. I felt the ultimate sin was making their children live this way.

I really don't know why these guys exist. Everybody hates them. How do they make money? I can't see parents paying this clown to come and keep their kids in line. My left-leaning dad probably hates these types of guys more than I do.
