I know a lot of you HATE Al Franken but I still love the guy and I loved the HBO special about the launching of AAR!

I laughed, I cried, I got goosebumps ...it is so great that they launched AAR!!! I use to listen to Rush in horror back when I was a pizza guy in the early 90's and its great that he finally has some competition!

and all hail Randi Rhodes! It figures that the balls of the liberal network are on a woman!!!

5. personalities like Randi Rhodes will save AAR
I think that, hindsight being 20/20, AAR is realizing that DJ's with more shock value and/or abrasiveness will do better for them in the ratings in the long run. More screaming, less NPR, and thank god for it.

I love Al Frankin, but there are plenty of times when Al is as dry and unfunny as any metaphore for something that's dry and unfunny.

That's why AAR has been changing up it's lineup lately and adding new talent (Springer, etc.) They need opinionated liberal radio personalities that aren't afraid to get into it and mix it up with ranting repukes.

You also have to remember, that half of Rush's audience (and O'Reiley, etc.) for all of these years have been Liberals. Liberals who disagree with the GOP agenda now have an alternative radio network to listen to, which is why AAR is trouncing the EIB network in every new marketplace they reach.

12. I refuse to pick a favorite
I adore Franken because of his humor, and I think he and his staff do the best job of exposing the lies of Hannity/Limbaugh/O'Really et al. That's extememly important. He's also great at presenting data mixed in with entertainment.

Randi's great at challenging the idiots and getting in their faces. And she's a Mensch, so you get attached to her personally. She also attracts great guests.

I recently discovered Morning Sedition, and now I'm addicted. Those two guys are astonishingly good. Mark M. is insanely funny, and Mark R. is a great foil. I turn them on in the morning and get the latest news of repugnican idiocy. How can you not love a guy who calls DeLay "The Bug-Killing Dwarf King of the Neo-Con Death-Cult's Legislative Pig-Pack"?

10. I don't hate Al Franken at all.
Some of the AAR personalities are more entertaining and provacative but Franken had the vision.

Would there be an AAR without Franken?
No!

I might have problems with some of his beliefs, but I like his show and his writing even more. BTW I think Mike Malloy has bigger balls than Randi Rhodes, but Randi is more buisness savy and nows how to attract a mainstream listening audience to her show.
