1. I didn't agree with the Pope on issues, , but does anyone really believe
he is in the same disgusting, exploiting, manipulating, lying ilck as Fallwell?

7. Apart from issues of sexuality and gender, this Pope was actually...
...a pretty good guy: Anti-war and pro-compassion towards the poor and unfortunate.

Falwell is just a flat-out noxious toad.

9. That's not our call to make
For one thing, we don't really know if an afterlife exists. It's all on faith, and most people who believe can say, "I believe it because it's absurd."

For a Christian of any denomination -- or a Buddhist, or Muslim, or most any other faith, for that matter -- forgiveness exists for Jerry Falwell as much as it exists for anyone else.

14. Ultimately, it's one's relationship with Christ,
that decides who goes to Heaven. "By faith are ye saved, not of works." However, we as Christians BECAUSE of salvation and our faith, ought to do good works. If it was a question of who has led the most active life of faith (putting faith in practice, not being a hypocrite), then the Pope wins by a landslide.

15. I'm surprise how many people on DU possess divine knowledge
to know who will and will not enter heaven.

Since I am only human, I have no idea. Christian theology, or Catholic theology anyway, argues that all of us are worthy of grace if we accept it, provided we repent our sins and accept God's love.
