Have they hammered the pope with the silver hammer yet?
According to tradition, each time a pope dies the pop him on the head three times with a silver hammer while calling his name.

5. Priest reported earlier they no longer do the head bopping thing
with a hammer when a pope dies but they do call his name three times. Guess some traditions have outlived their usefulness. Said it was changed during this pope's tenure.

Doesn't that call into question how many popes in the past were just resting their eyes when they got zonked on the noggin? Now that would make anyone real leery of sneaking a cat nap and then!

6. They still call him three times by his baptismal name.

It's just with medical advances, they don't need to hammer him. :)

They still use that silver hammer to break his ring and seal, though.

13. I haven't a clue. I do know they give a deceased Cardinal's ring to his
closest relatives, but for whatever reason, they destroy that of the Pope.

Perhaps someone more conversant with Catholic esoterica can illuminate us on this. I'm just a old collapsed Catholic. :)
